aturally, as soon as GG realised that our new Sinclair automated vote counter The Donald 3000 was way, way off, it was donated to Vincent’s.
We thought T.J. Porter was our big Splash Of Colour winner for 2021 but, turns out there was second people’s champion this year – Olivia McGeehan.
It was actually 9-year-old Olivia’s eagle-eyed and enormously proud auntie Sarah who spotted that all the numbers weren’t quite adding up in our annual kids art competition, and instead of one glorious 2021 winner, yowsa, we had two.
Because, it turns out, our own foolproof vote counting just wasn’t proofed enough for this particular fool.
Which meant we were down at Greystones’ sugar rush central, Sweet Boutique, once again today, to present another incredibly talented young Greystones artist with their prize-winning, treat-packed hamper.
With her two brothers – 11-year-old Harry and 6-year-old Luke – licking their lips in the background, Olivia explained how her beautiful Happy Summer painting came into being.
“Drawing and colouring is my favourite hobby,” she says. “I got into art as I love illustrating all my thoughts on paper – and my thoughts right now are on the great summer ahead…”
Also licking his lips in the background was Gordon O’Neill, CEO of Greystones’ very own telecoms provider Goldfish, who have once again kindly sponsored this year’s Splash of Colour kids art competition.
A competition where, of course, everyone’s a winner, baby. And that’s the truth.
You can check out all the entries in hi-res right about here, and catch up with our other happy hamper winner, T.J., right abouthere.
