Delgany Circles The Wagons

As local communities from the Rocky Valley to Blackberry Lane try to come to terms with the National Transport Infrastructure bonkers proposals for addressing the N11 traffic chaos, the Delgany Community Council are preparing for battle.

Two of the proposals would see a six-lane motorway cutting through Delgany Golf Course, and quite a chunk of the historic village itself.

Which really has to make you wonder about the kind of planning eejits we’re dealing with here.

Anyway, here’s the lowdown on Delgany’s current state of play…

Delgany Community Council recognises the need to improve the current situation along the N11 / M11 corridor and are working to make a community contribution to finding an appropriate solution.

As the timeframe is very tight to formally respond to the consultation we have put in place a N11/M11 working group, two members of whom are built environment professionals.

The group has reviewed in detail the N11/M11 options that have been given and met with Wicklow CoCo and ARUP. A number of questions were raised at the meeting about the differed options in order to get some clarity on them in order to inform he wider community about same.

From feedback received it is clear that people do not understand the options . The options given have not been explained fully, we have asked Wicklow CoCo and ARUP to release further information, Project Brief etc which will help people make more informed submissions.

Following the meeting questions were also sent in writing for clarification and response. A copy of this letter is available to view on line. A response is pending. We have been in contact with local concerned resident groups in order to share information. We have also been in contact with local TD’s and Counsillors looking for their views and informing them of the huge concern locally.

Delgany Community Council are working on a submission for this issue and will share it once it is complete. We will also be producing and distributing a submission template to help anyone who may feel daunted with regards to sending a submission.
