The room started swaying early… SAT28JUNE25 John McGowan
t was the year that Friends and ER first appeared on our screens, when Toy Story
changed animation forever, Blur went into battle with Quoasis and, most importantly, the Macarena was born.
Well, we say most importantly when, of course, the biggest shift in the world’s axis that year was St David’s Class of ’95 being finally free to sleep in on a weekday.

Terry Lowe, Francis Mitchell, Brian Hickey, Cian O’Donovan, Chris Singleton, Simon Padley & Colin Little
And just what these lazy feckers got up to in the last 30 years, hey, they all finally find out last night, as they marked 30 years since walking out those St David’s gates for the very last time.
Yep, as is tradition around here when it comes to school reunions, the old gang got back together at Greystones Rugby Club last night to swap war stories and compare psychological scars.
Just as many a middle-aged reveller has done before, including the classes of ‘81, ‘86, ‘87, ‘89, ‘96 and ‘97.

The plan was to recreate an old P’n’R disco from back in the day, and relight the fires that helped the drinkers and dancers at The Den, Lautrex, Hollywood Nights, Deep, Club ’92, The System and beyond. The dancing on Saturday night wasn’t all that frantic though, being closer to hip-op than hip-hop.
There were 157 students in St David’s Class of ’95, and not all of them were in the rugby club for that 30-year reunion. And glasses were raised on the night to Janice Driscoll, Peter Reid, Francis Mitchell and Timmy Vines.
Also raising a glass of pop was our trusty photographer John McGowan – full hi-res gallery right here.
