Having asked us to share his story in the hope that it might help others, we also got in touch with some local councillors and counsellors.
In these strained days, always be aware of those around

Just gimme your hand…

Just gimme your hand…
or every single one of us, life and its problems can sometimes get a little overwhelming…
There’s a wobble, a sense of foundations collapsing, of the roof caving in.
Wishing to remain anonymous, this familiar face fought back the tears whilst trying to explain just why he had taken a dark walk on the pier last night. Thankfully, he called into the Greystones garda station, and they offered him a cup of tea, a chat and some hope.
It was impossible to tell from the article who this person was, but, the fact was, for the man and his family, they needed no reminding of their current hardship. So, we’ve taken even those barest of bones out.
There are people out there who can help this broken man put himself back together. We’re also keeping in regular contact until he has.
you who may be hurting, secretly or otherwise, these lockdown times making the lonely feel especially alone, and the vulnerable feel especially fragile.

Hi Paul. Who ever this man is I feel that he is very brave. I’m so glad he had the courage to go into the Garda Station and look for help. Whoever you are, thank you for sharing your story with us on GG. It has more than likely already helped others. I am very sure you are not alone and are saying what others are thinking. Stay Strong & Stay Safe. Your community is here for you. Emma x

Nicola Lawless I m so glad that person got help and so good Paul to highlight as I know he is not only one going through this . I know only too well the impact of mental health on a person. Thinking of this person and I hope they do get the support they need long term. ❤️
Anne-Marie Hatton Reaching out is the most important advice you could give a person in this situation and he/she sure did reach out to the right person. Hopefully they will be back on the right path for their journey very soon, thank you for sharing, remember to please REACH OUT it can always be better than struggling alone x

Terry Meakin You can never tell how one is managing or coping, so it is lovely to read posts such as these. Thanks for sharing the support.
Alice O’Donnell A very timely post, I think we are all feeling a bit more down this time round. And for those who are already vulnerable it can make things very difficult. We need to be kind to ourselves and to others
Connie Graziani I am not a professional but I sure am able to listen, sometimes it’s much easier to talk to a complete strangers than to friends or family.
My door is open, we can have a tea or a coffee and a chat if you feel like it.
Noelle Clinton Your friend called to the right door Paul, you’re a good soul. Glad he’s going to get the help and support he needs to get through the dark times. Times of struggle can come to any and all of us at some time, the most important step to take is to reach out and tell someone you need some support.
Enna Snommisztif Thinking of this person. They are not alone
