he Boat Yard Gallery gang down at the harbour have just announced their latest outdoor weekend exhibition.

Happening on July 16th and 17th, the artist this time out is the bould Niamh Ryan.

Who likes mothing more than celebrating – to quote Sir David of Byrne – the wild wildlife.

Over to the lady herself…

I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember but really began to flourish as an artist when I attended Sallynoggin College of Further Education.

During this time I became completely enamoured with the wonderful miniature sets created for movies like The Lord of the Rings which led me to study at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, completing my degree in Model Making and Design for Film and Television. It was in this course that I learned various painting and visual effects that I wanted to explore more on canvas.

I have taken many side paths including spending some time in the Institute of Technology Tralee studying Wildlife Biology which focused my passion for wildlife and Irish landscapes. It wasn’t long before I found my way back to the easel to creatively explore my love and reverence for nature.

Since my return to art I have shown my work in several galleries and exhibitions including The Old School House Delgany Exhibtion, Greystones Art and Photography Exhibition, The Ennistymon Courthouse Gallery, and Bray’s Signal Arts Centre.

Alongside exhibiting, I am a professional wildlife artist, selling my work and commissions in Ireland and internationally.
