Kilcoole’s Christmas Cracker Call-OutNovember 17, 2020
It Could Be EweNovember 18, 2020
The latest press release from the Sugarloaf Lions Club, issued on Monday, November 23rd 2020…
Every Christmas since 1968, Sugarloaf Lions Club has collected food and money in the run up to Christmas and distributed the proceeds to local families in need in the Greystones, Delgany, Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy, Newcastle and Kilmacanogue areas.
Local Lions standing in the doorways of supermarkets at Christmastime beside shopping trollies laden with festive fare is a sight that most people living in our community are well familiar with.
Unfortunately, this year just like many other of our cherished Christmas traditions, Covid 19 means we cannot reach out to the community in this way. So, we need a new way of gathering support as the needs we try to meet are not only still there but have significantly increased as the economic cost of this awful virus reaches ever more homes and families.
Our Christmas Appeal which runs from tomorrow until shortly before Christmas is to raise the necessary funds to provide the equivalent of 200 hampers/vouchers/fuel for those in need in our community and to help them share in at least some of the joys of Christmas.
We are distributing appeal leaflets to households throughout the area and you can support our appeal by making a donation here or via our website here.
Local pharmacies to whom we are deeply grateful, have also agreed to host donation donation buckets and these can be found in Greystones at Fiona Roche Pharmacy, Dodd’s Pharmacy, McGleenan’s Pharmacy, Sam McCauley’s, whilst in Newtownmountkennedy, it’s Adrian Dunne Pharmacy, and in Kilcoole, it’s, hey, the Kilcoole Pharmacy.
