Kevin Wins Greystones Rock With A Wave

here were close to a hundred entries to our annual Greystones Rocks photo competition this year, and, of course, a few thousand votes.

Which is basically our excuse for being so late with the award presentation thingy.

Mixing the public vote with the judges’, we finally managed to come up with the winning photo that best captured a spark that’s distinctly, deliciously Greystones.

And Kevin Doyle’s Once More Into The Fray certainly fit the bill.

The amount of entries is hardly a surprise, given that we’re a town full of incredible photographers who take pictures purely for the pleasure rather than profit, and just like Rob Lawless, Liz Cusack, Vlad Bodarev, Anne McInerney, Jon Pierce, John McKiernan, Louise Duffy Barrett, Michal Bialis and Jade McMeekin-Quinn, Kevin Doyle is a worthy winner of The Brian Keeley Award.

Also feeling the judges’ love this year were the Lawless lad, young Vlad, Christian Byrne and Marc Diamond.

And when it came to the public vote, again, feckin’ thousands, with Matthew Santos, Suzanne Cox Hackett, James Kenny, Abbie Cullen, Ann McCabe, Kevin Doran, Gurpreet Channa Hayes and David Ignatescu all feeling the love.

But it was Johanna McFall’s Fireball that ultimately proved to be The People’s Princess.

Big congrats to Kevin, and everyone who took part – even the so-so ones – and big thanks to the McGovern Estates for sponsoring this yearly snapper love-in.

And it was all inspired by the mighty Brian Keeley.
